Use of the tina. in the Car
What if my child cannot be transported in a car seat?
For individuals who cannot be transferred into a car seat, transportation in a suitable wheelchair is an option. However, even these wheelchairs do not offer sufficient support for everyone. With the tina., we have developed a reclining shell base with a reclining shell system that is also approved for use in vehicles. This enables children with complex positioning needs to ride safely in a car.
tina. is approved for vehicle transportation according to ISO 7176-19
To ensure safety during transportation in a vehicle, the tina., equipped with fastening loops, underwent a crash test based on ISO 7176-19. This test simulates a frontal collision at 50 km/h using a standardized crash test dummy. The tina was secured in the direction of travel, and the dummy was restrained using both the harness on the tina. and the vehicle’s 3-point safety belt. The height adjustment was set to its lowest position, and the head section was reclined to 50°. With this tested configuration, the use of the tina. for transportation in vehicles is permitted. Other settings or configurations were not tested and are therefore not approved for transport in vehicles.
Important Notes:
- The tina. may only be used for transportation in vehicles when equipped with the optional fastening loops.
- A prerequisite for transportation in vehicles is a designated wheelchair space with a certified wheelchair restraint system (ISO 10542 and DIN 75078-2). 4-point securing systems with retractor belts can be used. These are attached to the red fastening loops on the tina. using hooks, carabiners, or loops. The restraint system must be suitable for the weight of the tina. including the user.
- Users must always be secured using both the harness attached to the tina. and the vehicle’s 3-point seat belt (shoulder strap + lap belt).
- The backrest must be inclined at a minimum angle of 50° from the horizontal. If this required inclination cannot be achieved, a medical certificate must be carried in accordance with the third regulation on exemptions from road traffic regulations.
- Detailed instructions can be found in the instructions for use.
