Little racing rider, big dream: Kacper and his momo tricycle.

Every child has dreams – and so does Kacper. He dreamt of owning his own bike, which he could use to take part in cycle races. This dream has come true for the seven-year-old boy from Plewiska in Poland.

Kacper was born prematurely as part of a twin pregnancy. His twin brother died shortly after birth. “Shortly after Kacper’s birth, we realised that something wasn’t right with him, and a few months later we received the diagnosis,” explains Kacper’s mother, Joanna. He was diagnosed with Weaver syndrome, a rare genetic condition, Arnold-Chiari syndrome and mild, drug-resistant epilepsy.

Kacper cannot walk unaided and does not speak. However, thanks to assisted communication, he is able to communicate well with his family and friends. He attends a special needs nursery and takes part in many additional therapies, including physiotherapy, speech and language therapy, and dog-assisted therapy.

Kacper is a very active boy. He enjoys swimming and spends a lot of time in the water. He also loves riding his momo tricycle. “It allows him to have a reasonably normal childhood,” says Joanna. He can use it to go on outings or ride to the playground to play with other children. Cycling also has a positive effect on his muscles and complements his physiotherapy.

Kacper’s parents soon realised that their son was developing a great deal of ambition when it came to cycling, so they came up with the idea of entering him in cycle races. He now takes part in competitions regularly – with success and, above all, with lots of fun!
