A Story of Independence and Joy

Caledonia’s Journey with Her New momo tricycle.

At Schuchmann, we are dedicated to creating specialist equipment that empowers children with disabilities to live life to the fullest. Recently, we had the privilege of working with a wonderful little girl named Caledonia, who has just received her very own momo tricycle., custom-made in Germany to her unique specifications. Her story is a heartwarming reminder of why we do what we do.
Caledonia, who will turn four this May, was born at just 25 weeks and has quadriplegic spastic cerebral palsy as a result of her prematurity. Over the years, she has needed various pieces of specialist equipment to help her navigate the world and engage in daily activities. One of her first pieces of equipment was our madita-fun mini. therapy chair, which her parents, Jamie and Marisa, described as a “game changer” for its functionality and aesthetics.

When it came time to find a trike for Caledonia, Jamie and Marisa immediately thought of Schuchmann. Having worked closely with Bryn, our dedicated product specialist, they knew the momo tricycle. would provide the tailored support Caledonia needed while maintaining the high-quality, stylish design they’d come to expect from our products.

A Trike as Unique as Caledonia

For Caledonia, the momo tricycle. wasn’t just about mobility—it was about creating an experience that felt special and personal. Her favourite colour is pink, so naturally, her family chose a vibrant pink frame for her trike. “So often we find equipment for Caledonia comes in one or two colours only, making it look more medical than it needs to,” her parents shared. “Our goal was for the trike to be something that she can use like any normal three-year-old would, with the support she obviously needs. The momo tricycle. looks amazing and very cool.”

One feature that particularly stood out to Jamie and Marisa was the ability to choose any colour for the trike’s frame at no additional cost. “Being able to pick any colour we wanted was so important to us,” they said. “It allowed us to create something that feels joyful and personal for Caledonia, rather than just another piece of medical equipment. We also love that the support which Caledonia needs is more subtle on the momo tricycle. compared with other trikes we have seen.”

A World of Difference

One of the most remarkable things about the momo tricycle. is the impact it has had on Caledonia’s engagement with the world around her. Before she had the trike, her only mode of transport on walks was her buggy, where she often appeared passive. Now, her parents describe how her face lights up when she uses the momo tricycle., actively engaging with her surroundings. “She’s so much more engaged on walks. It’s been transformative for her and for us as a family.”

The trike’s customizable support features have also made a big difference. Jamie and Marisa were able to match the support Caledonia already has with other equipment, ensuring she feels secure and comfortable while using the trike.

More Than Just a Trike

In addition to her momo tricycle., Caledonia uses a standing frame from Leckey, a Firefly GoTo seat for traveling, and a Splashy seat for bath time. However, her new trike has brought a level of joy and independence that is truly unique. It’s a perfect blend of practicality and fun—a product that supports her needs without drawing attention to them.
At Schuchmann, stories like Caledonia’s inspire us every day. Seeing how our products can transform lives reinforces our commitment to designing specialist equipment that combines functionality, style, and the joy of individuality. We’re thrilled to have been part of Caledonia’s journey and can’t wait to see the adventures she has on her pink momo tricycle.!
