For the love of detail

Our therapy chair smilla. consists of 126 parts in its standard version. Assembling smilla. in the Schuchmann workshop requires the utmost care to ensure that the chair becomes a reliable companion in the everyday life of children and their families.

Our love of detail begins with the selection of the raw materials. “The native beech that we use for the chairs is FSC-certified and is dried according to strict guidelines,” says our smilla. expert Ludger. This means that the wood does not twist. At the same time, the carpenters select and use the best boards.

Certified lacquers and fabrics

After cutting and planing the wood, the parts end up in a large CNC milling machine. Using digitised sketches, the armrests and side parts are milled carefully from the pieces of wood and sanded. This ensures that they are no parts that can hurt children.

Only when everything is neatly smooth do the individual parts go to the paint shop. For the white smilla., we use specially certified paints that are resistant to saliva and perspiration resistant . “These are paints that are used both in toy manufacturing and shipbuilding,” says wood expert Ludger. They pose neither a physical or health hazard nor a danger to the environment. They are also flame retardant.
Our love of detail keeps your loved ones safe.
