Three questions for Jon

Behind each of our products are people who work every day to help make everyday life a little easier for disabled children and teens. We would like to introduce you to some of these people in our series “Three questions for …”.

Jon Williams is Product Specialist for the regions Buckinghamshire, Surrey, Berkshire West & East Sussex, Oxfordshire, South West London and Hampshire. He joined Schuchmann in March 2019. Jon lives in Surrey with his wife and 10 year old daughter.

Jon, what is your daily work routine like?

I realise it sounds a cliché, but no two days are ever the same, each is so different and varied. As a result, this means I must be flexible and adaptive. Because we have such a range of products, diary planning is critical when organising the working week, obviously there is limited space in a van so you have to be mindful of which products can fit in for that day and be aware of this when booking in appointments. I get to meet so many people, in so many different environments. Assessing or setting up products, reviews and problem solving are all part of the daily routine.  Inevitably there is the ever-growing monster that is the traffic that we all deal with, so black coffee forms an important part of the day!

Obviously, it’s the interactions with the fantastic children I see which makes the work so very special.

What is your favourite food?

I really love South and East Asian food, especially if its spicy and enjoy growing our own chillis in the greenhouse. In the winter you can’t go wrong with a roast with all the trimmings, or a barbequed burger stacked with lettuce, cheese, tomato, onion and gherkins in the summer.

Why did you chose Schuchmann as an employer?

The long history of Schuchmann as a family business which maintains its absolute focus on the children who benefit from our products was paramount. The calibre of the people involved, many of whom I had already worked alongside, meant that I believed it would be a very strong team, I wasn’t wrong! I really value the way in which we work here and the innovations and developments we are seeing, it’s great to be a part of it all.

Thank you very much for the interview, Jon!
