Three questions for Jule
Behind each of our products are people who work every day to help make everyday life a little easier for disabled children and teens. We would like to introduce you to some of these people in our series “Three questions for …”.
Today, we’d like to introduce you to Jule Bessler. As our Quality Management Representative, Jule plays a key role in maintaining, monitoring, and continuously improving our quality management system. She was instrumental in the successful completion of our recent ISO 13485 audit. With a background in research, Jule helps ensure that our medical devices are developed with an evidence-based approach by conducting projects to explore and better understand the effects of our products.
1. What’s the best way for you to relax after work?
I unwind best when I work in the garden: harvesting a little, watering a little, digging a little… It’s most enjoyable when our son is happily playing in the garden and comes by from time to time to grab a strawberry or a few peas for a snack.
2. Why did you choose Schuchmann as your employer?
I’ve always wanted to do something meaningful with my work. For me, there’s nothing more meaningful than contributing to giving children the best possible quality of life. I think it’s amazing that our assistive devices help children participate in everyday life, play, learn, and grow. It’s especially important to me that the products really work and are safe at the same time. At Schuchmann, I was given the opportunity to use my experience in regulatory affairs while continuing to engage with clinical evidence and research questions. The location was a great fit as well, so the decision was made.
3. Are you working in the field you originally trained in?
Not directly — but in a way, yes. I originally studied Environmental Sciences. Afterwards, I changed direction and earned a Master’s degree in Human Technologies in Sports and Medicine. Then I worked for 4.5 years at a research institute, where I focused on the safety of rehabilitation technology as part of my PhD and was involved in several research projects as a movement scientist. My current job is so diverse that every stage of my education is reflected in it in some way.
