His favourite colour is yellow!

The five-year-old David did loads of laps on the momo tricycle during the test and trial day and is simply thrilled. He’d love to take the bike home straight away – in his favourite colour, yellow, of course.

Finally, he gets to pedal. It’s a whole new experience for the boy, and he takes to it straight away. With a broad smile, he cycles along our paths. Only on a small incline does Dad have to help with the push bar.

David has a congenital deformity of the hand and foot – a condition known as dysmelia. As a result, his right foot is about 10 cm shorter than his left. The fingers of his right hand were ‘fused’ at birth and had to be surgically separated at a clinic in Hamburg. He therefore has only three fingers, but he can build Lego very skilfully with them. At nursery, he enjoys doing crafts and drawing with scissors, paper and pens.

Health insurance must approve

However, he finds it difficult to grasp or hold things. That is why he is currently trialling a prosthesis. Now David and his parents are just hoping that the health insurance provider will give the green light for the prosthesis and the momo tricycle..
