Schuchmann joins cerebral palsy conference in Anaheim, California

 The American Academy for Cerebral Palsy and Development Medicine (AACPDM) and the International Alliance of Academies of Childhood Disability (IAACD) are organising a conference in Anaheim, California, from September 18th to 21st which is taking place for the first time! Training manager and Occupational therapist Andrea Espei will be attending the prestigious conference with the aim to develop a greater understanding how to further support young people with Cerebal Palsy. Andrea comments, “I hope that we will learn to recognise the needs of parents and children in greater detail, so that we can support them perfectly with our products in everyday life”. She has carefully chosen several seminars that discuss the provision of aids for infants with the aim to further drive product innovation.

A deeper understanding the needs of parents and children

Throughout each seminar the experts will present the latest diagnostic and treatment methods for cerebral palsy. Conference attendees will also be shown the possibilities of rehabilitation aids in therapy. The International Classification of Functioning, Disability and Health (ICF) provides the theoretical framework for the conference.

Peter Rosenbaum, Professor of Paediatrics and Co-Director of CanChild, will present a new ICF model in which function, friendship, family and fitness play an important role in life with cerebral palsy.

Experts from all over the world come together.

The two-day conference is set to be attended by paediatricians, neurologists, physiotherapists, orthopaedists and neurosurgeons. Physiotherapists, occupational therapists, nutritionists, special education teachers and educators will also play a major role. Experts and attendees alike will be travelling from all over of the world,  bringing their knowledge and insight of Cerebral Palsy together to further support children and families living life with this developmental disorder.
