Three questions for Scott

Behind each of our products are people who work every day to help make everyday life a little easier for disabled children and teens. We would like to introduce you to some of these people in our series “Three questions for …”.

Scott Hunter is our Product Specialist for the regions South Lancashire, Greater Manchester, Mersyside, Cheshire, North Wales, Staffordshire. He has been working for Schuchmann for close to 7 years, having worked previously in the NHS as an Occupational Therapist for 12 years. Scott is also a qualified Personal Trainer. “A qualification that I use more to benefit myself and close friends that require some guidance in achieving their own health and fitness goals.”

“Away from work I am a proud dad of 4 young girls – never has a company van been more appreciated. I am also a keen Arsenal and mixed martial arts fan. I have trained in 3 different martial arts over the course of 20 years and it’s something that I’m extremely passionate about. I feel that in addition to the health benefits, martial arts also encourages discipline and respect.”

The free time that he has left, Scott uses to go to the gym 3/4 days a week and plays football. “Im truly at my happiest when I’m active and kept busy- work-life balance is absolutely the key to this.”

1. Scott, what are your goals for the year 2024?

My goals this year are to both consolidate the relationships that I have forged with a number of teams in the North West and to develop new working relationships with those teams who as of yet have not been introduced to our company.

I’m also striving to develop a working relationship with the therapists in the Isle of Man. I recently visited the island for 3 days following an expression of interest from one of their Physiotherapists. It became apparent that they are relatively isolated on the island and have struggled to maintain working relationships with other company’s on the mainland due to the logistics. I firmly believe that we can fulfil their expectations of service provision and product quality to ensure that they are supporting the many children that they currently work with on the island.

2. What do you wish for Schuchmann this year?

As a company in its relative infancy in this industry, Schuchmann have surpassed many expectations. In 7 years we have almost doubled our staffing levels and added many new and exciting products to our line. My hope and belief is that we can continue along this path and prove ourselves as one of the front-runners in manufacturers and distributors of products supporting disabled children in the UK.

Schuchmann UK have consistently received positive feedback from the therapists and family’s that we work with regarding our service provision. We have always prided ourselves on being responsive, flexible and delivering on what we promise. We want to maintain this moving forward in 2024. Furthermore, we want to continue our innovative approach to product design – being able to offer our customers something unique and needs-led.

3. What was your favourite “Schuchmann moment” last year?

Honestly there were a number of moments in 2023 that I can say were enjoyable. Our partnership and sponsorship of the Kidz to Adultz exhibitions firmly validated our presence in the UK. We also launched our new and improved madita-fun. chairs. Having worked with the product since the arrival of the company 7 years ago we have had great success in supporting children and their families both at home and in schools. We thought it necessary to make some minor alterations to improve the aesthetic and adjustability for those working with it. We have since had lots of positive feedback about the revamp – therapists in particular acknowledging Schuchmann’s desire to be responsive to the market to improve the ways that we work.

Thanks for letting us get to know you better, Scott!
